Alexander Tinsley Flynn
Ty Flynn (Alexander Tinsley Flynn) was born in Seoul, Korea on April 16th, 1997 and was adopted by Marnie and Dave Flynn of Dunwoody, GA when he was a year old. He was the younger brother of Harrison Flynn, an eleven year Rockmont alumni camper, CIT and counselor. Ty died in a tragic accident on May 13, 2016 at the age of nineteen.
Ty was a much loved and well known Rockmont camper, Ranger and CIT and spent 8 beloved summers at Camp Rockmont from 2006 to 2014. In his early years at Rockmont, Ty earned many awards including “Most Enthusiastic Prayer Leader”, “Loudest Tribal Yell” and “Best Appetite”. As an older camper, Ty won the Paladin Award, the highest award earned at Rockmont, although the first summer he worked towards this award, he couldn’t keep the vow of silence – but the following summer, he achieved the Paladin Award. Ty was an extrovert who never met a stranger and often when his mother would arrive to pick him up from camp, he’d be way off on others hills, saying goodbye to everyone in the various age groups. At camp he loved all of the lake activities, hiking, disc golf, tennis, tribal activities and playing his guitar and singing at the morning tribal gatherings.
The Camp Diversity Scholarship Fund was selected by our family as a memorial for Ty and as a way to give others who are economically challenged the opportunity to attend Camp Rockmont – a place so special to both our sons and to our family.
